Carl Hines

Carl "Woody" Woodrow Hines, 75, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Cool Springs on July 27, 1943 to the late William W. Hines and Ida P. Kitchens. Carl was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers of America. He was an U.S. Army veteran and an underground coal miner. Carl enjoyed watching University of Louisville basketball, horse racing, westerns, listening to Johnny Cash, and farming. He was a proud coal miner and loved his family. Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his first wife Paula Jean, his daughter, Karen K. Ruffalo, siblings, Elwood Hines, and Betty Nance, and half-brother, Orville Leisure Carl is survived by his former wife, Pamela Hines, his children, Sandra (Frank) Fender of Murray, William Hines, Erin Bukhari, Sally (Joaquim) Gomes, all of Owensboro, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and one sibling, Hilda Wood of Branson, Missouri. Services will be 11:00 am Monday, December 17, 2018 at Miller-Schapmire funeral home. Burial to follow at Cool Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home.
