James "Jim" S. Glenn III, 85, of Durham, NC passed away at home on February 2, 2021. He was born in Owensboro, KY on June 1, 1935 to the late James S. Glenn Jr and Grace Keith. In his earlier years he worked for the Florida East coast Railroads with his father and worked the remainder of his career with the L&N/ CSX Railroads also was an assistant manager in the real estate department. Jim served in the U.S. Army from April of 1958 to April of 1960. Jim also served on the Hartford water commission. He was a previous member of Hartford Christian and North Side Christian in Durham, NC. Jim loved being in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. His true enjoyment came from spending time with his family especially during their camping trips. Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Keith Glenn. Jim is survived by his wife Jerry Nell Poole Glenn; his children James S. "Jay" Glenn IV of Greenville SC, Joseph K.Glenn of Bowling Green, KY, and William Eric Glenn of Durham, NC; and 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am in the Chapel of Miller Schapmire Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Hartford Christian Church; 122 Walnut St, Hartford, KY 42347 and Ohio County Food Pantry; 1220 Old Main St, Hartford, KY 42347. All who wish to honor Jim at the visitation and funeral are required to wear a mask while inside the funeral home for the safety of all those in attendance.
