With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John "David" Ashley, who left us on February 7, 2026, at the age of 70. David, a beloved son, brother, and friend, was born on February 19, 1955, in Dumont, New Jersey, to the late Pascal Ashley and the late Anna Parisi Ashley. He resided in Hartford, where he dedicated his life to serving others. David was a passionate and compassionate social worker for the State of Kentucky, where he touched countless lives with his unwavering commitment to helping those in need. His dedication to social service was only surpassed by his love for his family and faith. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus #17606 and a 4th Degree Member of Assembly #3021, David found joy and camaraderie within his community, living out his values with grace and humility. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a devoted attendee of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
David is survived by his dear sister, Linda Marino and husband Ernest of Amherst, NH; a niece Susannah Smith of Merrimack, NH; and a nephew Christian Esslinger, his wife Melissa, and great niece Emily Rose Esslinger of Monrovia, CA, who will remember him fondly for his kindness, humor, and wisdom.
A public visitation and service will be announced and will take place at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church providing friends and family the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate his remarkable life. His final resting place will be at Beulah Cumberland Presbyterian Church following the service.
In this time of remembrance, we invite all who knew David to join us in celebrating his life, reflecting on the love he shared, and cherishing the lessons he imparted. Condolences can be expressed at www.hartfordfh.com. David will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
