It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Kay Lindsey, 75, of Hartford, who left us peacefully on January 23, 2026, in Louisville. Born on December 21, 1950, to the late Tince Bartlett and Nora Elizabeth Reeder Bartlett, Judy lived a life full of kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family and community.
Judy dedicated her career to service, retiring from her role at Paxton and Ball, where she was known not only for her professional skills but also for the warmth and compassion she brought to those around her. A founding member of The Courthouse Players, Judy cherished the power of storytelling and performance, using her talents to bring joy to many. Her commitment to animal welfare was evident in her role as the first president of the Ohio County Humane Society, where she tirelessly advocated for the voiceless. As a devoted member of Hartford Christian Church for 44 years, Judy's faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her in her actions and relationships.
Judy's greatest joy came from her beloved family. She was married to her best friend, Charles R. Lindsey, and together they created a life filled with laughter and love. Judy is survived by her two daughters, Laura Elizabeth (Charles) and Allison Brooke (Shawn), who both carry forward her spirit and values. Her legacy will live on through her cherished grandchildren: Abbygail Elizabeth Gledhill (T.J.), Issabella Ophelia Hobdy (Tristen Leach), Alexandra Grace Schroader, Piper Jean Hobdy, Simon Charles Schroader, and Aiden Shawn Hobdy. Judy is also survived by a sister, Barbara Benner, several nieces and nephews, and her extended family of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Junior Embry, Patricia Lay, Anna Frisby, Jerry Embry, Shirley Duncan, and Martha Rose Bartlett.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hartford Christian Church, and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM, led by Bro. Scott Parker. Following the service, Judy will be laid to rest in the serene beauty of Oakwood Cemetery.
Judy will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering spirit, and her dedication to making the world a better place. Hartford Funeral Home is honored to assist the Lindsey family during this difficult time. Condolences may be left at www.hartfordfh.com. Memorial contributions can be made to FOTS Rescue, P.O. In this time of sorrow, let us come together to celebrate the profound impact Judy had on all our lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire us all.
