Lurlie Veolia Cox Hoover

Lurlie Veolia Cox Hoover, age 99 of Hartford, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford. She was born on August 31, 1925, in Ohio County the daughter of the late Joseph Earl and Oakley Lurline Roach Cox.

Lurlie was a member of Humble Valley General Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and working crossword puzzles.

Left to honor Lurlie’s memory are, her son, Kerry Hoover; two grandsons, Jason Hoover (Valerie) and Jeremy Hoover; four great-grandsons, Ethan and Eli Hoover and Kyle and Cameron Bartley; three great-great-grandchildren, Heda Grace, Kaisyn Rial, and Koltyn Wayne Hoover; and one sister, Nadine Smith.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Berry Rial Hoover; two sisters, Annie Madeline Finley and Essie Lela Smith; and two brothers, Norman and Rayburn Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Hartford Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Gowins officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
