Penelope "Penny" Sutton

Penelope "Penny" Sutton met her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by her beloved daughter and cherished granddaughter at their home in Utica, Kentucky. Born on January 6, 1949, in Olaton, Kentucky, to Roscoe and Martha Bratcher Patterson, Penny's life was marked by unwavering love, kindness, and a deep commitment to her family and faith. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

Penny was a nurturing wife to Gregory Sutton, who predeceased her in November of 2023. Together, they cultivated a home filled with warmth and laughter, creating a legacy of love that will endure. With a heart full of compassion, Penny touched the lives of many, sharing stories and smiles that brightened even the darkest days. Penny cherished the times when Gregory would pull his guitar out and they would sing together brightening even the later days of Gregory's time here on earth. Her passion for gardening and canning the fruits of her labor mirrored the love she poured into every aspect of her family life.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sarah Sutton, and her cherished granddaughter, Karlee Ringkor, both of whom will carry forward her spirit and values. Additionally, she is mourned by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Sutton; her son-in-law, Robert Whitely; a brother-in-law, Jack Embry; a sister-in-law, Edna Patterson; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who were touched by her generous heart. Penny was reunited in spirit with her son, Harold Sutton, and her daughter, Karen Whitely, as well as several beloved siblings, Brenda Payton, Sue Payton, Roscoe Patterson, Jr., Nancy Embry, Alicia and Jeannette.

Friends and family will gather to honor Penny's remarkable life on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. A funeral service will be held at Hartford Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, led by Bro. Phillip Embry, who will commemorate Penny's life and the joy she brought to all. Prior to the service, a time for visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, allowing loved ones to share stories and memories that celebrate her legacy. Penny will find eternal peace at Sunnyside Cemetery, where she will rest among the beauty she so dearly loved.
