Gregory Brent Trogden, 66, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. He was born September 16, 1949 to the late Edwin Tyler ‘Monk' Trogden and Helen Thompson Trogden. Brent was an electrician and was retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1701. Mr. Trogden was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic minister, usher, church picnic stand manager and worker. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, working in his woodshop carving and building all sorts of things, and devoting his life to being a hard working husband, father, and grandfather. Brent was also a 32 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Randy, Sheen and Joe Trogden. Brent is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lynda Trego Trogden, his children: Troy (Ruby Moore) Trogden, Tracy Trogden, Katilyn (Steven) Ashworth, April (Shane) Dickens, Francis Tyler (Keisha) Trogden and Jessica Megan Trogden, 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brothers Gary (Nadine) Trogden and Dominic (Connie) Trogden of Owensboro and his sister Genna Trogden (Charlie Weaver) of Laramie, Wyoming, his sisters-in-law, Beckie Trogden and Jonell Williams, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and his best friend of 62 years, Tommy Osborne. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church, with Father Suneesh Mathew and Father Carl McCarthy officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery in St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Prayers will be said Thursday at 7:15 p.m. Visitation will also be held after 8:30 a.m. Friday at Precious Blood Catholic Church. A bereavement dinner will follow immediately after the funeral Mass at Precious Blood Catholic Church Parish Hall. The Trogden family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the many family, friends, neighbors, and AA members who prayed for Brent, provided food, or stopped by to visit Brent during his illness.
